Sample Soap Project

Do you have some extra shampoo, soap or other toiletries taking up space in your bath closet? Are you shopping for your weekly groceries and see a 2-for-1 sale? Consider bringing these unopened products to donate to the Sample Soap Bucket that will soon be in our URSC Lobby.

Sample Soap, a local Rochester nonprofit, collects unopened toiletries of all sizes: soap, shampoo, toothbrushes & toothpaste, cosmetics, hygiene pads & tampons and more! These are redistributed to agencies around Rochester that serve unhoused people, refugees, women and families in transition, veterans’ assistance agencies, and many others. In September alone, 148 poounds of donated toiletries were sorted and delivered to agencies such as Restore, DePaul and Rochester Refugee Resettlement Services. These products are essential to the people’s self-esteem and health. They cannot be bought with food stamps or WIC and these donations mean human service agencies do not have to divert funds from other activities.

The collection bucket will be in the lobby year-round! It will be located around the corner (as you approach the community classroom). God’s abundance is infinite and all-encompassing. Thank you in advance for your generosity. The Sample Soap Motto is “With a little time + a little money, we do a lot of good.”
