“I am the light of the world” (John 8:12) is a declaration by Jesus Christ that He is a source of spiritual truth, guidance, and life for humanity, designed to dispel the darkness, despair, and ignorance. It emphasizes Jesus as a divine beacon that reveals God and offers salvation to those who follow Him.”
The quote above, taken from an online source of information about “the light,” is a nice introduction to that which I wish to share with you this week. If you are sensing a recurring theme in my lessons and writings, it is because I feel called to emphasize and reinforce the divinity within each of us.
We well know that Jesus is our Way Shower. He shows us the way to accessing and employing that which He demonstrated over 2,000 years ago. The spark of divinity within is a demonstration of Jesus sharing His light with us. We are thus charged with continuing on with His legacy of sharing the light with others.
In John 14:12, Jesus tell his disciples, and therefore each of us as well, that we will do what He does and even greater things. “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father”
Therefore, I ask you again, “Are you committed to spreading your light?”
Eric Butterworth, in his book, “Discover the Power Within You,” states, “(But,) the world needs a society of saviors, individuals who come alive with the divine forces within them, and who become a saving influence by letting the light of their own divinity shine bright and clear.”
Charles Fillmore informs us that “light” is a symbol of wisdom; it is the expressor of Truth. We spread our light by making the active decisions to seek and hone wisdom; to express our light by being the expression of wisdom; by living the Truth we know in a manner that is inviting and contagious. The open door that invites others in to explore the light is the extension of love through (but not limited to) kindness, warmth, acceptance, patience and unbound joy.
And so it is.
