Mitchell K. Jones
The Board of Trustees is delighted to announce the creation of a new and needed ministry which began on December 1. Please join us in welcoming Mitchell Jones into this ministry as our Assistant Spiritual Director. He will support Rev. Barb with a variety of appropriate administrative tasks, including the scheduling and fulfilling of the guest speaker calendar.
In addition, Mitch will be our new music coordinator, in charge of planning and scheduling the selections, vocalists and accompanists for each service. A committed individual, while finishing his Doctorate, Mitch plans to begin taking SEE classes from Unity Worldwide Ministry as well. We are blessed to have Mitch’s willingness, talent and skills available to enhance our ministry, and Rev. Barb’s commitment to excellence for URSC. We are grateful for Divine Order in this opportunity to continue full support of the vision and mission of URSC.
Biography: Mitchell K. Jones is a lifelong spiritual seeker, historian, author and Ph.D. candidate at the University at Buffalo specializing in the history of early American religion. Jones was born into the Jehovah’s Witnesses and has studied many diverse philosophies and spiritual traditions including Swedenborgianism, Shakerism, Spiritualism and New Thought. He has had articles published in the Communal Societies Journal and American Communal Societies Quarterly and has been a member of the Communal Studies Association since 2020. He is currently working on research projects related to utopian communes in the 1840s and the Harmonial Spiritualist philosophy of medium Andrew Jackson Davis. Jones has been a member of Unity Rochester Spiritual Center since 2022. Since joining URSC, Jones has given multiple guest lectures and has frequently provided music for Sunday services. He is also a singer-songwriter who plays guitar, banjo and other instruments.
